We got set a brief asking us to communicate visually a word that chosen using vernacular typography. Our word that was chosen was public.
This one-day brief was great fun, which you could be as experimental as you like. Vernacular typography is one of my favourite aspects to type as you can be as playful as you want to. This is always something I would be looking to do if I was studying typography as I think you can make an image look very appealing for people to see, and to have a really experimental time until you discover the best possible outcomes for what you’ve been given.
